Mr. Weissmann was born on March 17, 1958, and he is 65 years of age. He was born and raised in New York City and Woods Hole, Massachusetts by his parents Ann and Gerald Weissmann.

Andrew has a younger sister Lisa Weissmann, with whom he shares his fondest childhood memories. Weissmann’s father died on July 10, 2019, at the age of 88. His father was an accomplished scientist, editor, and essayist.

Weissmann began his career working as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York in 1991. he remained in the post till 2002. from 2002 to 2005, he then served as deputy director appointed by George W. Bush and then appointed as the director of the task force investigating the Enron scandal. He prosecuted more than 30 people for perjury, fraud, and obstruction including three of Enron’s top executives, Andrew Fastow, Kenneth Lay, and Jeffrey Skilling.

In 2005, he started working as special counsel with Mueller. He then headed into private practice at Jenner & Block in New York. In 2011, he again served as General Counsel under Mueller. For 2 years from 2015 to 2017, he worked as the chief of the criminal fraud section at the Department of Justice.

On June 19, 2017, Weissmann lead the Special Counsel Mueller’s team to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections. He also joined as a legal analyst for MSNBC. He has also taught at NYU School of Law, Fordham Law School, and Brooklyn Law School.

As for now, he has returned to Jenner & Block as co-chair of its investigations, compliance, and defense practice. On September 29, 2020, he released his book Where Law Ends: Inside the Mueller Investigation.
