Tammy Zywicki was a 21-year-old college student who was murdered in August of 1992. She was last seen alive alongside her disabled car, on the side of Interstate 80, in Illinois.
Later, to be discovered dead by a driver who spotted her body, wrapped in a blanket, on the side of a Missouri interstate. She had been stabbed to death.

Almost 30 years have gone by Tammy’s death, but her mother is still holding on to the hope; that her daughter will get justice someday. Tammy Zywicki’s mother, JoAnn Bernadowski is 78 years old now. She was a former secretary turned homemaker when she lost her only daughter in 1992.
While fighting the battle of justice for her daughter, JoAnn has also lost her husband along the way. Tammy’s father, Henry ‘Hank’ Zywicki died on May 26, 2015, at the age of 75. He died without the closure of knowing what exactly happened to their daughter.
Prior to retirement, Tammy’s dad was employed as a civil engineer with Bechtel Corporation and Flour Daniel Associates. Not only that he was a veteran of the Navy. Together, Tammy’s mother and father had 4 kids including her.
But now, only three of JoAnn and Henry’s children remain. Each one of them is highly educated and leading a successful life. But, the void due to Tammy’s unfortunate death will never be fixed.

Tammy had 3 siblings in total and all her siblings were brothers. She was the third child and only daughter of their parents. So, Tammy’s eldest brother is Todd Zywicki who is 55 years old now. He currently works as a law professor at George Mason University in Virginia.
Tammy’s other brother, Dean Zywicki is a Principal Software Engineering Manager at Microsoft. He now resides in Virginia with his wife and children.
Moreover, Tammy’s youngest brother, Daren Zywicki, is 49 years old now. He is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Kiewit. Currently, Daren lives with his wife, Sara Sutandi Zywicki, and 3 kids in Atlanta, Georgia.
It was Daren, whom Tammy dropped at the Northwestern University in Illinois; before she went missing later that day.

Hours after Tammy had left the Chicago area in her, I-80, 1985 Pontiac 1000 hatchback, her car was found abandoned on the side of the road, five miles east of LaSalle, Illinois.
Illinois State Trooper ticketed Tammy’s car as being abandoned. On August 24, 1992, the vehicle got towed by the Illinois State Police

To this date, Tammy’s murder remains unsolved. The case is still under investigation, and the FBI remains hopeful that DNA technology will lead to Tammy’s murderer finally being unveiled.
Also, the FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification of the individual or individuals responsible for this crime.
If alive, Tammy Zywicki would have been 50 years old today. She would have celebrated her 50th birthday on the 13th of March 2021.
