Stacey Abrams is the second child of her parents. She has a total of six siblings in the family who were born and raised in Wisconsin, USA. The early life of Stacey was spent in Gulf port, Mississippi. Later her parents with family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Both parents graduated from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. They became the Methodist Clergy.

After graduating from law school, Abrams began working as a tax attorney at the law firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan in Atlanta, focusing on tax-exempt organizations, public health, and public finance.
