Ben Abbott is an expert blacksmith, bladesmith, jeweler, and metal artist who is popularly known as Forged in Fire two-time champion. Once contestant and winner of the show, he later became the judge of the show.

Before pursuing his career in his dream job of forging metals, he trained at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). he was a teammate of a group of scientists working on LIGO – a highly technical apparatus constructed to detect the effects of gravity and related waves.
He then started making knives, tools, ornamental ironwork, jewelry, furniture, and anything else that needed making. But his real journey began when he participated in Forged In Fire in the ninth episode of eh the second season of the show aired on 12th April 2016.
He went on to win the show by recreating Khanda Sword and walked away with the title of the champion and a 10,000$ cheque. He again appeared on the show as a contestant for Champion of Champions on 23rd August 2016. he went on to become the winner of the show with his Scottish Claymore, claiming additional prize money.
His talent was so remarkable that he was invited to become the judge of the show in absence of veteran judge J. Neilson. He made the first appearance on the show as a judge in the 21st episode of the fourth series and continued to make appearances in subsequent episodes.

In each episode, four blacksmiths compete in a contest that consists of three elimination phases in which they must forge bladed weapons.
