Trace Adkins Family, Parents, Early Life 

Trace Adkins was born in Sarepta, Louisiana. His parents are Peggy Carraway and Aaron Doyle Adkins. His father and mother were high school sweethearts and his father, Aaron, worked for 47 years at the International Paper Container Division in Springhill.

 

Adkins also has two brothers, Clay Adkins and Scott Devin Adkins. Scott passed away in 1993 after an unfortunate truck accident. Aaron got his son a guitar when Tracy was 10 years of age, and after hiring a guitar teacher, Tracy’s interest in music slowly grew. 

Trace Adkins attended the Sarepta High School, where he joined a gospel music group called the New Commitments, pursuing his education in music further. Adkins later attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. Here, he joined the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football team but promptly left due to a knee injury. Afterward, Adkins stopped his education and dropped out of college. 

Trace Adkins’ Career 

Tracy Adkins joined an oil rig as his first workplace after he dropped out of college. Adkins joined a band named Bayou after some time, then started working as a technician in a pharmacy before finally deciding to pursue a career in music.

Adkins lost the pinky on his left hand while using a knife to open a bucket but he asked the doctors to reattach the finger at a specific angle so he could continue to play guitar and keep his music career afloat. 

Over the next few years, Adkins played in bars in the Ark-La-Tex area. Sometime after, Adkins moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1992. After 2 more years, Adkins’ music career finally paid off after he met the executive of Arista Records Nashville. He continued playing his music in bars, and soon he got signed by Capitol Nashville records while he was playing at Tillie and Lucy’s Bar in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. 

Adkins’ first single, which he wrote himself, “There’s a Girl in Texas”, was released in 1996, reaching the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. Later that year, it was followed by the release of his debut album, “Dreamin’ Out Loud”. Adkins was named “Top New Male Artist” by the Academy of Country Music in 1997. In 1998, Adkins appeared on the PBS music program Austin City Limits

Trace Adkins has been married four times in his life so far. His first wife was Barbara Lewis, and he has two daughters. His second wife is Julie Curtis with whom he has no children. Adkins then married Rhonda Forlaw, the executive who got him into the world of music. And then finally, Adkins married Victoria Pratt. Adkins and Victoria got married in 2019 and they are still currently married. 

After divorcing his first wife, Barbara, Tracy married Julie Curtis. The couple was quite violent. Actually, Tracy got shot by Julie but he managed to survive a bullet that literally went through his heart and both lungs. Somehow the magic man survived but decided to not press charges against his then-wife. Adkins divorced Julie in 1998. Adkins and his third wife, Rhonda, got divorced in July 2015 after Adkins filed for a divorce. 

In total, Adkins has 5 daughters. His first two daughters are Tarah and Sarah, whom he had with Barbara. His other three daughters are from his marriage with Rhonda Forlaw and they are named Mackenzie, Brianna, and Trinity.
