Abby Johnson’s Educational History and Family

Abby Johnson grew up in Rockdale, Texas. Abby attended and graduated from Rockdale High School. Subsequently, she received her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University. Abby pushed her education forward and got her Master’s Degree of Arts in Counseling from Sam Houston University.

Her parents’ names are not disclosed to the public, but they were conservative. Being raised in a conservative family, Abby did end up being opposed to abortion naturally but eventually managed to be more educated about the process. After years of experience, Abby would change her beliefs again and be an anti-abortion activist.

Abby Johnson visited the church regularly; every time the doors were open, so she said. Abby participated in the youth group of her school and was an educative student in her high school. She confessed to being “pro-life” even as a kid. She eventually went to college and attended a volunteer fair during her junior year.

Abby Johnson’s Early Life And Introduction To Abortion

While attending her college’s volunteer fair, she ended up attending the Planned Parenthood booth and got drawn into the planned parenthood education.

“What caught my attention at the Planned Parenthood booth was the hot pink. It was my favorite color,  and the Planned Parenthood booth was drowning in hot pink.”

The woman she met in the booth played an important part in changing her views about abortion.  In the booth, Abby learned about planned parenthood, including tests ad exams for men and women who were planning to be/not be parents. Abby initiated her volunteering work and later found out that the booth offered abortion services, then got drawn in and gave abortion a better chance.

Abby Johnson’s Career

Soon after graduation, Abby Johnson started her career in the abortion industry with Planned Parenthood. Her career started in 2005 as a paid employee. In the initial years of her career, Abby counseled many women and she stated that most cases didn’t make sense to her.

” […]almost all of the women who I counseled were contracepting, yet were having abortions. It didn’t make sense to me. It didn’t seem like their goal of expanding the use of contraception was reducing the number of abortions”

Abby Johnson continued working at the Planned Parenthood clinic. Eventually, she got the title of Employee of the Year in 2008. While pursuing her career as an abortion counselor, Abby encountered a lot of difficulty with her own thoughts.

Abby had a lot of conflicting thoughts about abortion, and to make things worse, she also got death threats from local anti-abortion groups.  Abby soon resigned in 2009 and contacted the leader of the local anti-abortion group. Johnson accused Planned Parenthood of trying to increase the number of abortions.

However, the spokesperson for Planned Parenthood stated Johnson’s accusations to be completely false, and Abby couldn’t disprove this.  Afterward, Abby Johnson officially became a member of the Coalition for Life anti-abortion group. Besides this, Abby also authored two books as an anti-abortion activist. Her books are named “Unplanned” and “The Walls Are Talking: Former Abortion Clinic Workers Tell Their Stories”, which were released in 2011 and 2016 respectively.

Additionally, Abby also runs an anti-abortion ministry named “And Then There Were None”. ATTWN lobbies abortion clinic workers to leave the industry and provides financial support and counseling to those who follow through. She was also part of the 2017’s women’s march against Donald Trump.

Abby Johnson’s Published Books

Abby’s first book, Unplanned, was a huge success. Unplanned is based on her experiences as an employee at Planned Parenthood. The book covers how her resignation became a national news story because Abby held the position of Director at Planned Parenthood.

The book gives Abby’s personal perspective about the witnessing of her first actual abortion procedure.  Unplanned is a heartstopping personal drama of life-and-death encounters, a courtroom battle, and spiritual transformation that speaks hope and compassion into the political controversy that surrounds this issue.

Telling Abby’s story from both sides of the abortion clinic property line, this book is a must-read for anyone who cares about the life versus rights debate and helping women who face crisis pregnancies. Her second book narrates the harrowing and life-changing experiences of former abortion clinic workers, including those of Abby Johnson, who once directed abortion services at a large Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas.

These individuals, whose names have been changed to protect their identities, left their jobs in the abortion industry after experiencing a change of heart. They have come forward with their stories, not for fame or notoriety, but to shed light on the reality of abortion. This book is focused on changing the perspective of anyone who could be pro-abortion and might be doubting their beliefs.
