The last time we saw Maggie, the former leader of Hilltop was during the first half of season nine. It was the same episode where Rick blew up the bridge in order to stop the walkers from moving further, and supposedly died. Maggie was seen comforting Rick’s wife Michonne for the last time before she made a very subtle exit from the show.

But even after the exit, Maggie was mentioned in the fifth episode of Season Nine. In the episode, it was made clear that Maggie left the group to travel with Georgie who is presumed to be a community builder.

Having said that, it is clear that Maggie’s role in The Walking Dead isn’t done yet, but the question regarding her return to the show is yet to get answered.

Will Lauren Cohan Return as Maggie?

When Lauren Cohan, the actress who played Maggie, left the series last year, there was a lot of speculation regarding her exit.

Since she left the show amidst ongoing contract negotiations, many speculated that the disputable salary issues must have been the cause.

However, Lauren later clarified in an interview that it wasn’t the reason why she left. Instead, Lauren departed because for her it had been a long time portraying the same character. Lauren elaborated,

“It was like, I’ve done the show for a long time. It was a long time to be in any character, and sometimes you just get quiet and listen to your inner guidance and it’s time to multi-task.”

Further, in the interview, Lauren was also asked if there was a potential Maggie Greene spin-off. To which she replied,

“There may have been some conversations, but everything is so early-days ambiguous . . . We’ll have to see what happens,”

Well, since Lauren wasn’t able to rule out the possibility of her return to the show entirely; there still is some hopes!
