Former Fleetwood Mac Guitarist, Lindsey Buckingham’s Vocal Cord Damaged During Open Heart Surgery

Lindsey Buckingham went through open heart surgery last week. The former Fleetwood Mac singer and guitarist is back home recovering from the surgery but the emergency procedure during the heart surgery left him with a damaged vocal cord.

Kristen, Lindsey’s wife, shared the news of her husband’s recovery through her Instagram account on Friday. She also let the guitarist’s fans know that Lindsey was doing well but suffered damage to his vocal cord during the operation. She also mentioned that it is yet to figure out the damage was permanent or will be healed soon.

Kristen Buckingham wrote, “I am sad to say that late last week Lindsey underwent emergency open heart surgery. He is now recuperating at home and each day he is stronger than the last. While he and his heart are doing well, the surgery resulted in vocal cord damage. While it is unclear if this damage is permanent, we are hopeful it is not.”

Kristen Buckingham wrote further in her Instagram post, “This past year has been a very stressful and difficult year for our family, to say the least. But despite all this, our gratitude for life trumps all obstacles we have faced at this moment. We feel so fortunate he’s alive. As does he.”

“He looks forward to recovery and putting this behind him. Needless to say, all touring and shows currently scheduled have been put on pause for the moment as he gathers the strength to heal completely.”, added Kristen in her post.

She further in the post mentioned that the former Fleetwood Mac Guitarist, Lindsey has a family history of heart issues and how he lost his father and brother to heart-related illness.
