Orlando Soria’s Parents and Family Details
Orlando was born to his parents Dale and Catherine Soria in Yosemite Village, California. Orlando’s father, Dale Soria, was a Dentistry graduate from the University of California.
Soria grew up alongside his three siblings, two sisters, Elisa Catala Soria and Kelly Colvin Soria; and a brother, Miguel Soria, who is a nurse by profession.
Also, many of you may not know but, Orlando belongs to a multi-racial ethnicity as his father is a Mexican, and his mother, a European. Orlando shared about him being a Latinx via his Instagram post where he wrote,
It surprises a lot of people to find out I am Latinx (I used to hate that term because I thought it was yet another instance of a Romance language being Americanized but I like that it seems more inclusive of people like me that are mixed/not fully sure how they identify). My mom’s lineage is European, my dad’s family comes from Mexico.
Because of this I was raised with a certain understanding about America and culture and mixing that were more atypical than I realized. When I got to college I ended up hanging out with a pretty diverse group of friends, many of them also mixed, and the sense that I got about the world was that this combination of cultures was a good thing and literally what built this country. I kind of just assumed everyone thought this way.
He claims that he first learned designing at the age of 7. Of course, he didn’t realize it at the time, but Orlando has confirmed that his parents always played a hand in motivating him towards design. Also, his family has been very supportive of him and his career, which is one of the reasons why he made it thus far, successfully.

Soria has officially said that this was an opportunity for himself without anyone else’s needs in consideration. After this, Orlando realized that this was quite therapeutic, and he made it into his very own thing.
Talking to a magazine, Orlando shared how his break up led him to pitch the TV Show concept to HGTV; he said,
I went through a breakup about two years ago and I had been living with my boyfriend. During the course of moving out and setting up my own place, I kind of found that there was this really amazing healing power that interior design had. It was the one thing I was enjoying at that time in my life, it was a pretty rough time. After going through that, I realized this would be a really great thing to be able to pay forward.
Further, Orlando also mentioned the fact that he hasn’t given up on love yet and he is dating men here and there. But, he hasn’t found the right one yet and is single for now.
Orlando Soria’s Tips for those Going through Unspousing
From one experienced fellow to those who need some insight, Orlando shared details on how to handle the ‘unspousing process.’
The first thing Orlando highlights is the opportunity to get to know your own self better. He says,
“When you have a partner, you have to take their needs and tastes into account, whereas when you’re doing it for yourself, you just get to be selfish. It’s a great opportunity to explore a new design style.
He also mentioned it to be the “silver lining to a breakup.”
Meanwhile, Orlando further suggests taking decisions that you might not have been able to make in your last relationship. He adds,
“If your ex hated knitted throws, buy yourself a knitted throw, If your ex hated a color you loved, paint a color that room! Because at the end of the day, making a home for yourself “is a way of care-taking yourself and telling yourself that you’re worthy of a beautiful space,”
Well, that’s one hell of an uplifting suggestion!
