Alec, the 17-year-old inspirational teenage sensation, was born on 8th May 2002 in Chicago. He was born with a rare genetic disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, better known as brittle bone disease.
His parents knew about their son’s medical condition even prior to his birth. During an interview, Alec’s mother recalled the day when the doctor informed them about their son’s condition and shared; that it was pretty scary for her.
Meanwhile Alec’s father expressed how the news was emotional for him and the family. He said,
It was a very emotional moment for us, We tried for our fourth child, and hopefully it was going to be a son. And when we learned it was a son, and learned that he had a disability, it was quite emotional.
He is the last born as well as the only son of his parents, Mother Alma, and father, Gill Cabacungan. His father is of Asian decent, where as his mother is American.
Therefore, Alec and his 3 elder sisters in the family belongs to the Asian-American ethnicity.
All three of his sisters, Julie, Kristen, and Isabella are very loving and caring of him and he loves them equally as well.
Both of those boys who does the Shriners commercials are just darling.I have watched them grow up on TV and glad they are still doing the Shriners commercials

Alec… I truly believe you are not a Shriners “child” anymore, but a full grown adult. You have a deeper voice than most adult males in this world. You need speech therapy classes if you’re going to do commercials! You need to learn how to say certain words, like, “adorable”. Witch they constantly make you use! You all are such jerks & others are right… have no compassion for these kids & young adults who have these problems.. Its called Osteogenesis Imperfecta or brittle bone disorder.. Yes, they could prob have speech problems or could also have something wrong with their teeth.. The whole prob w/OI is that bones are not strong which means they can break very easily…
