Maria Smith called Priyanka Chopra a Global Scam Artist in a feature for The Cut. The article has now been deleted and The Cut has officially issued an apology to its readers and to Priyanka and Nick.
Maria Smith in her article said that Nick, a naïve young white man has now stuck into a lifelong relationship when he was just looking for a fling with an older woman. The article also had content that said Priyanka was taking advantage of Nick Jonas for her fame.
Many celebrities, as well as fans, severely criticized the article calling it a racist and sexist remark. Celebs such as Game of Thrones fame Sophie Turner, Nick’s brother Joe Jonas, Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, and many more condemned the article.
For a publication that “shows women’s what they are made of” @TheCut has a lot to answer for . The article on @priyankachopra was sexist , racist and disgusting. Also it’s written by a woman which is so sad. It reeks of envy and bitterness. @mRiah shame on you! https://t.co/bmbbX7LrAT
