New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed that 40 people died in the attack. She also called it a terror attack.

Witnesses reported hearing as many as 50 shots from his weapons, which included a semi-automatic shotgun and a rifle, at Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch on the country’s South Island at about 11.30am AEDT as Friday prayers were underway.

At about the same time, what a second shooter opened fire at a mosque in Linwood, which is within 10km of the first attack

The suspected gunman posted a 73-page manifesto to Twitter before the killings, foreshadowing a ‘terrorist attack’.

The terrorist shouted “Subscribe to PewDiePie” in his video which has brought unnecessary attention to PewDiePie who in his recent competition to be the king of Youtube with T-Series has launched a worldwide phenomenon -“Subscribe to PewDiePie”.

Pewdiepie has since tweeted regarding his name being mentioned by the shooter.

Some people have even blamed PewDiePie for his far-right thoughts saying his Youtube Channel fuels right-wing radicalization which has some part in the mass shooting.

But most of them have come in defense of PewDiePie, saying just because is name was mentioned does not mean he is responsible for the terrorist attack.
