Justin Tranter Career
Tranter launched his music career on the underground club circuit on the lower East side of New York City. Tranter produced his first album, Scratched, while still in Berklee. After finishing his graduation, Tranter moved to New York to set up his first band for the Rockstar NYC off-road show.
In 2004, Tranter joined forces to form ” Semiprecious Weapons” with colleagues from Berklee, Cole Whittle, Dan Crean, and Aaron Lee Tasjan, who since then has been replaced by Stevy Pyne.
After moving to Los Angeles in 2012, Tranter signed a new Publishing Agreement with Warner/Chappell Music to write songs for other singers. Since then he has worked on several Billboard hits, including two albums, Good for You and Sorry, which kept the number one spot on Pop Radio for three weeks each.
In December 2015, for his songwriting contributions to the 2015 pop chart, Tranter was named one of Rolling Stones’ 20 biggest breakouts.
As of 2016, Tranter teamed up with Gwen Stefani to co-write her third solo album, along with Julia Michaels, entitled This Is What the Truth Feels Like.
His writing credits include Halsey’s “Bad at Love,” Imagine Dragons’ “Believer,” Jason Derulo’s “Lucky,” Selena Gomez’s “Good for You” and Justin Bieber’s “Sorry.” He’s been nominated for a Golden Globe and a Grammy.
