Cody Parkey Career Biography
From 2010 to 2013 Parkey played Auburn Tigers college football. As a rookie in 2010, he only played in two games, but he did all extra points. In 2011, he converted 41 out of 42 extra-point attempts and 13 out of 18 field-goal attempts. As a junior in 2012, he converted all 27 extra-point attempts and 11 out of 14 field-goal attempts. In 2013, he converted 66 out of 67 extra-point attempts and 15 out of 21 field-goal attempts.
Parkey signed with the Indianapolis Colts after being undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft. On 20 August 2014, he was traded for David Fluellen by the Colts in the Philadelphia Eagles.
Parkey created a new record of the NFL rookie in 2014. He broke Kevin Butler’s 29-year-old 144 points record with the Chicago Bears broke with his 150 points in 1985. For the highest average points scored per game in the 2014 NFL season, Parkey was affiliated with Stephen Gostkowski.
Parkey signed a four-year deal with the Chicago Bears on March 14, 2018. The release of Parkey at the beginning of the league year was announced on February 22, 2019, after 11 missed starts in its first season and $3.5 million already guaranteed under its deal for 2019. On 13 March 2019, he was officially released.
The Browns signed Parkey to their practice squad on September 6, 2020. He was promoted to the team’s active roster on September 14, 2020
