Graduating law school, Jill Wine-Banks joined the United States Department of Justice and became one of the first female attorneys in the organized crime section.
She served on the staff of special prosecutor Leon Jaworski during the Watergate scandal. During the trial, she received a lot of media attention for her legal tactics as well as her fashion choices.
In 1977, she was nominated by President Jimmy Carter to serve as General Counsel of the Army and she held this post until 1980. She was the very first woman to be the General Counsel of the Army.
Jill became a partner at the law firm Jenner & Block in 1980. In 1987, she became the executive director of the American Bar Association and was the first woman to hold this position as well. In 1992, she joined Motorola as a director and vice president and remained here until 2000.
Jill then founded and was the CEO of Winning Workplaces, a human resources firm, in 2001. She joined the Chicago Public Schools as chief officer for career ad technical education in 2003, and since 2008, she worked as a consultant with F & H Solutions.
