Prior to that, Irwin worked as a Human Resources Specialist at Vermont Army National Guard for two years and six months.
In 2015, Deedra also worked as a Professional Nordic Skier at the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation.

Deedra’s boyfriend started competitively skiing in the seventh grade for his local middle school. He then skied 4 years of varsity at Kenai Central High School along with three trips to the Junior National Cross Country Ski Championships representing Team Alaska.
His biathlon career started when he joined the National Guard his senior year of high school. He has been training and racing on their team since October of 2015, making two junior world teams.
