Selina’s grandparents migrated to the United States when Selina and her sister were born to take care of them. It might seem odd but many people who migrate to the United States from Asian countries tend to call their parents to take care of their babies.
Selina’s grandparents weaved the Chinese heritage into her and the first language she learned was Chinese. She could barely speak English when she started pre-school.
She frequently visited China with her parents and stayed at their relative’s place in Henan, China.
Both Selina and her sister are now married.

Selina and Wang have been in a relationship since 2012 when Selina Wang was only 18 years of age. They met when they were studying at Harvard. They look almost unrecognizable in their old photos. The two lived in San Francisco, California for a brief period of time before Selina had to move to China for her job at Bloomberg.
The couple tied the knot before Selina moved to China for her job. They got married in the City Hall and planned to celebrate with their friends and family the next year but that has not been possible due to Covid.
Selina posted this heartfelt message on Instagram
Before I moved to China last year, I got married to my college sweetheart at San Francisco City Hall. ❤️ Thank you to my talented friend David @Dpm888 for capturing these photos, back when the world was not under quarantine. We had planned to celebrate the occasion with friends and family in the U.S. this summer. Due to the pandemic, we’ve decided to postpone the wedding until next year.
I’ve now been apart from my husband for more than 80 days. For anyone else who is separated from loved ones as a result of the pandemic and travel bans, remember that this challenging period will eventually pass.
We’re all in this together. And to those who have also had to cancel or postpone your wedding, hang in there! Replanning or canceling a wedding is incredibly stressful, and it’s okay to feel frustrated or upset. But at the same time, treasure your health and the safety of your loved ones. Plus, when the virus disappears, you’ll have a unique story and the chance to celebrate and reconnect with your loved ones!
