David Tavella is married to a beautiful woman named Kari Gibson. Dustin revealed they had to adopt a baby since Kari’s pregnancy was disrupted by miscarriage.
David and Kari were married on Deukmejian Park on a Saturday on November 18
Their son Xander is now their world. They adopted him when he was 2 months old on February 21, 2020. He was in a pretty rocky situation and his birth mom asked if they would adopt him.
There is a long process for adoption and after it was complete they named their son Xander Dre Tavella. The judge was super cool and gave Xander a toy.
How did Dustin and Kari meet?
Kari was in a very bad place when she met David. She was violated by friends and called trash when she was in school.
She kept drinking more and sought attention from guys. When she relocated to New York after college but got mesmerized by the nightlife, drinking, and partying.
She recalls one night she went to dinner with her boss who was twice her age and woke up naked in his bed the next morning and she was full of rage. She knew she had to quit drinking but it was the alcohol that made her insecurities go away.
She then moved to Los Angeles and the first friend she made was a Pastor. For six years he tried taking Kari to church but she didn’t go to act cool. She then got an incurable sexually transmitted disease and then was in a bad place.
But that didn’t change her old habits and she ended up being pregnant and aborted the child. She began drinking more and the situation even worsened.
She wanted to end her life but her brother saved her and took her to church. She then went to church regularly and was engaged to a guy. But the pastor of the church told her to forbid sex before marriage so she broke up with her finance as he was not on the same page.
Then she went to a church one day and caught the worship leader’s eye who was none other than Dustin Tavella. He made her feel like she could have fun without drugs.
David didn’t drink, didn’t take drugs and he also forbids sex before marriage. Since then, the two have been together and for a long time hopefully.

So before he came here on stage he emailed some pictures to Terry and asks terry to confirm that he received the emails.
In front of Heidi, there are some flashcards with pictures of kids’ toys and he asks her to shuffle it and pick one and put it to her heart.
In front of Sophia, is a calendar from February of 2020. He tells her to pick up the marker and mark any day that she wants.
He asks Howie to give any random Last Name and Simon to write down a time
And further asks Terry for one inspiring word that sums up his heart and power. Terry replies with “Power”.
Then he asks Heidi to show the card that she cut. Surprisingly it is the same toy that David bought on stage with him which was given by the judge.
Then he asks Terry to open the mail and there is a picture of a box and on the box, it was written On February 21 Judge Smith made Dustin and Kari Mummy and Daddy. It was the same name that Howie had said and the same date that Sophia had written in the paper.
And in the photo, there was a clock and it showed exactly the time that Simon wrote in the paper.
And then further in the mail, there is a picture of Xander’s biological mother holding a placard with Power written on it, which was the word that Terry picked.
