In 2006, Ross signed with Sony Records in the UK and started to work on his debut album. He released the first single, As I Choke, which was the most popular iTunes single of the week in the United Kingdom, recorded 36,457 downloads in a week.

Copperman decided to move to Nashville to concentrate on writing and production in spite of the success of his UK debut. During this period he wrote several other notable hit pieces, including, Thompson’s Glass, Dierks Bentley “Tip On Back,” Kenny Chesney’s “Pirate Flag,” Josh Turner’s “Low Low,” and Trisha Yearwood’s Prizefighter.

He has received a 2016 Double CMA Triple Play Award, BMI 2016 Songwriter of the Year, and the ACM Triple Play Award.

Ross came back to his own work in 2019, publishing a solo folk-pop trio, “We must plant a tree,” “Stars are on your side.”

He wrote several No. 1 song with notable hits, such as “Don’t it by Billy Currington, “Strip It Down” by Luke Bryan, and “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” by Keith Urban.
