Chris Hohmann known as one of the famous ABC11 meteorologists has announced retirement. ABC 11’s President and general manager Rob Elmore announced on Thursday that Hohmann’s last day would be Friday, May 28.
Addressing his decision to retire after working at ABC 11 for nearly 3 decades, Chris expressed,
After nearly 30 years at ABC 11, it’s hard to put into words how full my heart is. To be able to move from the weekend weather to the morning show and then to evenings has been a dream come true. And I’ve been so fortunate to work with and learn from so many talented people along the way, including Larry Stogner.”
He further posted on his Facebook

Chris Hohmann Career Biography
Chris Hohmann joined ABC 11 Eyewitness News as the weekend meteorologist in August 1991. He came from WRCB-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and before that, WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
While at WDAM-TV, Chris was awarded Best Weathercast in Mississippi four times. In December 1993, Chris moved from weekends to “Good Morning Carolina” and “Eyewitness News at Noon.” He was named Chief Meteorologist in June 2007 and now presents the weather at 4,5, 5:30 6, 10, and 11 PM on Eyewitness News.
Chris has forecast and covered many of central North Carolina’s biggest weather events, including the Snowstorm of 2000, The Ice Storm of 2002, and Hurricanes Fran, Florence & Floyd. He was on the air for over twelve hours during the tornado outbreak of April 2011, North Carolina’s worst tornado disaster in history.
