But her parents unaware of her situation, as growing up with her brothers, the family noticed Kathy has problems speaking. They thought of her as a slow retarded child so admitted her to the special school.
When she was in her second grade at the age of 8, Kathy’s parents found out she is actually deaf so they admitted her to Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center. Then she attended the Westfield/Dunbar School in East Cleveland.
When she reached 6th grade, Kathy grew to a height of 6ft, everyone teased her and called her names such as Buck, Buckwheat, Daddy Long Legs, and Jolly Green Giant. she was also sexually abused as a child.

At first, Kathy worked as a model for Gold Circle but after the accident, she gave up modeling and started working some minor jobs. In 1974, Kathy’s visit to Lake Erie proved lethal for her. As she was sunbathing, a jeep ran over her crushing her ribs. She was paralyzed for a while and it took 5 long years for her to completely recover. In 1976, she again had another car accident and was put in traction and a lot of medication.
In 1978, Kathy moved to Los Angeles, California, and got her Social Security Disability. She then worked at a warehouse, did waitressing, and also worked in an auto shop.
