One observation on the South Korea data. In addition to the exponential growth and decay of infections once the Hammer came down, there appears to be a cyclic component with a period of about one week. This matches the typical asymptomatic incubation period almost exactly.
My knee-jerk conclusion is that weekly get-togethers are very very bad because they act like an “infection laser”. People getting together when the carriers are most infections!!!
Public Health implications: In my opinion, if people are going to have close contact with anyone, it should be daily so that if they transmit virus, it is at a low dose that the immune system can deal with. If I don’t see someone daily, I should not be in close contact with them at all.
I’ve been trying to get this observation into the hands of the right people, and have passed it on to some researchers at U of Toronto. I borrowed your graphics for the S. Koreea and Transmissibility curves. I’d be interested in your comments. Willing to discuss of course, but only if you would find it valuable. Keep up the good research.
