Gypsy Rose Blanchard Early Life
Gypsy was born on 27th July 1991 to her mother Dee Dee in Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Her father, Rod Blanchard and her mother were divorced prior to Gypsy’s birth.
Gypsy was born all healthy and as a normal child as per the statements, given by her father Rod.
But unfortunately for Gypsy, her mother had something else planned for her. It is normally said; nothing can be greater than a mother’s love, sadly, it wasn’t the case with Gypsy.
Beginning right from her birth, Gypsy was portrayed to the world as a disabled child; afflicted with numerous health condition, including leukemia, cancer, and muscular dystrophy.
Gypsy’s mother, Dee Dee duped everyone in her family and friends including the media into believing that her daughter was a special child.
Dee went as further as to constrict Gypsy in a wheelchair all her life, despite the fact that she could walk perfectly fine.
Even more so, Gypsy was forced by her mother to undergo several surgeries to treat all the fake illnesses.
How Did Gypsy Rose Blanchard Kill her Mother? The Actual Story!
After living a fake and abusive life till the age of 24, Gypsy couldn’t take it anymore. To be constrained inside her house, on the wheelchair, with no privilege to make her own decisions; Gypsy had no other way than to escape from her evil mother.
But, the way that she chose to get away from her mother was a gruesome one.
Gypsy along with the help of her boyfriend planned the murder of her mother, Dee Dee. She invited her boyfriend at night after her mother went to bed, and asked him to take Dee Dee’s life.
Gypsy sat on her wheelchair in the bathroom, while her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn stabbed Dee Dee to death.
In an interview with ABC News, Gypsy admits that she heard her mother cry for help, but she froze at that moment and couldn’t do anything.
Prior to killing her mom, Gypsy once tried running from her home at the age of 19. Which turned out horrible after Dee Dee got hold of Gypsy shortly after she ran away.
Talking to Dr. Phill, Gypsy expressed how her mother chained her to the bed for 2 weeks with the help of dog leash and restricted her from talking to anyone.
Gypsy Rose Relationship With Her Ex-Boyfriend
At the time of the Killing, Gypsy was in a relationship with a guy named Nicholas Godejohn. The two met via a Christian dating site and were talking to one another for quite some time.
For Gypsy, it was her first love and also somebody who understood her so well. Gypsy dreamt of marrying Nicholas and had different fantasies.
Not only Gypsy, but her boyfriend also loved her enough to agree to be Gypsy’s partner in crime. Hence, the murder!
Where is Gypsy Rose Blanchard Now?
Gypsy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for her mother Dee Dee Blanchard’s killing in June 2015. As a consequence of which, Blanchard is serving a 10-year prison sentence in Missouri’s Chillicothe Correctional Center.
Blanchard’s then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, on the other hand, got convicted of first-degree murder. Currently, Godejohn is serving life without parole in the same prison.
Meanwhile, Gypsy Rose Blanchard will be available for parole in 2024.
