Miss USA, Sarah Rose Summers has issued an apology for her comments on her fellow Miss Universe contestants, Miss Vietnam and Miss Cambodia regarding their English abilities. Miss USA, Sarah, captured in a video flanked by Miss Colombia and Miss Australia on either side was caught mocking Miss Cambodia and Miss Vietnam.
Miss Colombia, Valeria Morales posted a video on her Instagram where the 24-year old Miss Universe contestant, Sarah Rose Summers mocked Miss Vietnam initially and later went on to pass comments on Miss Cambodia.
Mocking Miss Vietnam, H’Hen Nie, the 24-year-old beauty pageant, Sarah said, ” she is so cute and she pretends to know so much English and then you ask her a question after having a whole conversation with her and she……(smiles and nods).”
“Miss Cambodia is here and doesn’t speak any English and not a single other person speaks her language. Can you imagine?” she added in her comments towards Rern Sinat, Miss Cambodia. “Francesca said that would be so isolating and I said yes and just confusing all the time.”
Miss Colombia, Valeria Morales & Miss Australia, Francesca Hung were seen laughing alongside Sarah Summers in the video.
Following the video surfacing throughout on the internet, the trio faced a lot of heat from people all around the world, especially, Miss USA, Sarah Rose Summers who did all the talking.
Sarah later apologized for her comments on her fellow Miss Universe Contestants. She posted a photo on her instagram hugging her fellow contestants and wrote a caption which said:
@MissUniverse is an opportunity for women from around the world to learn about each other’s cultures, life experiences, and views. We all come from different backgrounds and can grow alongside one another.
In a moment where I intended to admire the courage of a few of my sisters, I said something that I now realize can be perceived as not respectful, and I apologize. My life, friendships, and career revolve around me being a compassionate and empathetic woman. I would never intend to hurt another. I am grateful for opportunities to speak with Nat, Miss Cambodia, and H’Hen, Miss Vietnam, directly about this experience. These are the moments that matter most to me.
The matter as of now seems to be resolved as Miss Cambodia later posted the same picture and said:
My friendship and sisterhood in Miss Universe will forever be kept in my heart.
Our experience have given us the opportunity to show and learn different cultures.
I speak the language of love, respect and understanding.
I love you my sisters.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
