Kevin was the man who recommended Colin for a role in Thaddeus O’Sullivan’s crime/thriller movie, Ordinary Decent Criminals.
After working in some great movies like Phone Booth and The Recruit, Colin slowly let the fame get to him and lost control of what he needed to do.
Divulging on the matter Colin once said.
“It all happened so fast. Success can be dangerous, especially when you’re young. It creates a false reality and you lose touch with things that really matter.”
He was so into drinks and drugs that even if the party finishes early, Colin would party alone until 5.30am.
Colin addressed his drinking issue as,
“I used to go bananas for five months then take the foot off the gas for two months and clean up a bit. I was sad. I was drinking loads.”
His drugs addiction went so far that even death started to tempt him. Colin made a shocking revelation recalling an instance,
“I remember thinking one day that I’ll go to New York, buy £2,000 of smack and rent a bedsit, put black sacks on the window and shoot up until I die.”
Finally, after struggling with addiction for years, Colin checked into rehab at the age of 29.

Whereas, Colin shares parental rights of his younger son, Henry, with his ex-wife Alicja Bachleda-Curus.
He shares a very close-knit and playful relationship with his sons.
Appearing on Ellen recently, Colin expressed how he loves to spend his free time with his boys (sons) back at home. And since Colin wasn’t working much last year, here’s what he did,
I was just home with the boys. It’s hard because you know, I travel 6-7 months a year on average and it’s tough on them, it’s tough on me and I miss them so much. So, I just get home and get in there faces to the point where they were actually sick of looking at me.
Colin further added on what his sons did to him,
One of them packed my bag when I finally left and the other one was waiting with passport on the front door saying ‘don’t be a stranger daddy.’
Colin Farrell’s elder son James Padrig Farrell Has Angelman syndrome.
Angelman syndrome is recognized as a complex neuro-genetic disorder which primarily affects the nervous system of a person. The characteristic features of this syndrome include severe speech impairment, intellectual disability, delayed development, and problems with balance and movement aka ataxia.
The syndrome, unfortunately, has no known care!
It would be a heart-wrenching moment for any parents to know that their child is diagnosed with such syndrome and Colin is no different.
Talking to People Magazine in 2017, Colin described how amazing it was to witness his son James take his first steps,
When James took his first steps a couple weeks short of his fourth birthday, it was pretty amazing and humbling to see, People talk about the children taking the first step, it’s obviously a monumental moment and it’s been represented in films. But to be told your child may never take the first step and then see those first steps is just kind of a different sport all together.
