Kevin Spacey’s Lawyers Enter Not Guilty Plea On Charges Of Groping A Young Boy At Nantucket Bar

On Monday, Kevin Spacey appeared in court to answer allegations that he had groped a young man in Nantucket. According to the allegations the incident took place in a bar in resort island in 2016.

It has been a year since the former Boston TV anchor accused Spacey sexually assaulting her son who was 18 years of age back then. She accused that the former House of Cards Star had assaulted her son in a crowded bar at the Club Car where the boy worked as a busboy.

Prosecutor requested the judge that Spacey is ordered to stay away from the accuser. The judge granted the Prosecutor’s request and asked two time Oscar Winner, Spacey, to have no contact with the accuser. When asked by the Judge if he understood, Spacey simply gave a slight node. The formal reading of the charges was not conducted. Spacey said that he will plead not guilty to the felony of indecent assault and battery.

On the defense request to preserve cell phone evidence, the judge granted the request and set a preliminary hearing date for 4th of March and ruled that the actor did not need to appear. While leaving the court, Spacey avoided reporters and their questions.

Alan Jackson, Spacey’s lawyer, has targeted the holes in the case, saying that the accuser didn’t promptly report the assertions. Spacey might face as many as five years of prison if convicted.

The civil attorney for the accuser said in a statement ahead of the hearing that his client is “leading by example.”

Mitchell Garabedian, a lawyer, who has represented hundreds of sexual abuse victims said, “By reporting the sexual assault, my client is a determined and encouraging voice for those victims not yet ready to report being sexually assaulted.”

Other accusations of sexual assaults and molestations had surfaced against Spacey in 2017. This is the only accusation that has been taken to the court.

In front of the Nantucket District Court Judge, Spacey requested to avoid appearance saying that his presence would amplify the negative press already generated by the case. But the judge denied his bid.

As per the television anchor, Heather Unruh, in November 2017, Spacey grabbed her son’s genitals after getting him drunk. She said that her son escaped the restaurant when Spacey went to the bathroom. As per the police report, the teen had also captured a video of the incident and had sent it to his girlfriend.

After the allegations were made Netflix had canceled its contract with the actor for the show, “House of Cards”.
